Syracuse
has a proven track record of successful hosting of national and
regional groups such as The American Bowling Congress, National
Street Rods Association, the American Baptist Churches, and the
National Roller Skating Association. During the last five years
the area has been host to an average of 125,000 delegates annually.
The OnCenter Complex combines three facilities in a prime downtown
business district. The Onondaga County Convention Center at OnCenter
measures approximately 208,000 gross square feet, including a 65,000
square-feet exhibit hall and a 22,000 square-feet meeting room/ballroom
complex. The John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theater at Oncenter features
three distinctly different theaters for the arts. The Onondaga
County War Memorial Area at Oncenter is ideal for conventions,
concerts, sporting events, cultural happenings, ice shows, and
trade shows.
Most major hotel affiliations are represented in the Syracuse
area and facilities are divided into three major clusters, with
a total of over 6,200 rooms in Onondaga County. Carrier Circle
(Thruway Exit 35) offers over 1,600 rooms, Downtown-University
area over 1,000 and 7th North Street-Buckley Road (Thruway Exits
36 & 37) over 1,300.
