New York State's new EMPIRE ZONE program has proven to be one of the best in
the country. If your business expands or relocates to one of our zones; it
could qualify to PAY NO TAXES FOR UP TO TEN YEARS.
Syracuse's
two "Empire Zones" (formerly Economic Development Zones)
help businesses expand, create new jobs and grow our local economy.
Both the City of Syracuse urban zone and the County's suburban
sub-zones offer a range of helpful incentives to qualified businesses
or "Qualified Empire Zone Enterprises" (QEZE). To qualify
as a QEZE, a business must be located in an Empire Zone and meet
annual criteria. Both the Onondaga County and City of Syracuse
Office of Economic Development can assist in becoming a QEZE.
