Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital
Golisano Children's Hospital offers a full range of general and specialty pediatric services, in a child friendly and state-of-the-art facility. The new hospital houses over 87,000 square feet of space and features all private rooms with baths and numerous child- and family-friendly amenities.

Health Care

Onondaga County's quality of life and its economy are well served by a high quality, comprehensive health care system including five hospitals, a VA hospital, over 1,500 practicing physicians, two mental health centers, numerous ambulatory care programs, and full range of long-term care facilities.

SUNY Upstate Medical University

SUNY Upstate Medical University, the area's largest employer, is also one of Onondaga’s most prestigious medical assets. It is home to one of the country’s eleven Joslin Centers for Diabetes and the Golisano Children’s Hospital, which houses the only pediatric intensive care unit in a 17 county referral area and the only dedicated pediatric emergency department between Rochester and Vermont. It is also the region's trauma center, burn center, and kidney transplant center. Upstate’s Institute for Human Performance research center has won $5.4 million in grants to fuel research in bone density, spinal cord and wrist injuries, and to improve emergency response capabilities. 

Syracuse VA Medical Center

The Department of Veterans Affairs named the Syracuse VA Medical Center as a Center of Excellence for its Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom and Polytrauma programs. Syracuse’s VA Medical Center has been named No. 1 among the 153 VA hospitals nationwide for its prosthetics service. The Syracuse VA has a working relationship with our affiliate, SUNY Upstate Medical University allowing us to develop a strong research program between the two institutions.

St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center

St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center is a 431-bed comprehensive medical care institution dedicated to providing quality health care to the residents of 16 counties in Central New York. St. Joseph's has stood as a community landmark atop Prospect Hill in Syracuse since 1869 when five Sisters of St. Francis transformed a dance hall and bar into a 15-bed hospital. The institution has evolved into a medical complex that includes a College of Nursing, psychiatric emergency program and physician's office building. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded Magnet Recognition to St. Joseph’s Hospital for Excellence in 2002. 

Crouse Hospital

A private, not-for-profit hospital, Crouse Hospital is licensed for 506 acute-care beds and 57 bassinets. The hospital serves more than 23,000 inpatients, 66,000 emergency services patients and more than 250,000 outpatients a year from a 15-county area in Central and Northern New York. Crouse Hospital is the first - and only - U.S. hospital to receive the Optimas Award for General Excellence from Workforce Magazine. Crouse operates the largest outpatient surgery program in Central New York, is a New York State - designated regional stroke center, and its programs and departments continue to receive accolades from healthcare industry groups. 

Upstate University Hospital at Community General

Community General Hospital is a nationally recognized health care facility that offers a comprehensive range of services, including medical and surgical care, emergency services, intensive care, acute rehabilitation and inpatient psychiatric care. The 306-bed hospital has been named a "Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals: Performance Improvement Leader," and is also nationally recognized for its premier orthopedic program, spine surgery, bariatric surgery and maternity services.
